Hi Bob:

According to some reseach done in the Pendleton area, Edward Tate McClure had a number of land transactions. The LDS records list him as born before 1755 and dying ca 1798-1800 in Pendleton. His wife is listed as Margaret Langley and is included in the 1800 Census of Pendleton, age 47 & up. The sons from LDS are listed as John, William, Josiah, James, Charles, Samuel and George T. McClure.

I am interested in him also, but only if he ties in with a William McClure that married 2 Nov. 1813 to Elizabeth White in the Pendleton District. Two different sets of parents are listed in the LDS records, however, he supposedly died in Lumpkin County, GA before 1849 and his wife later appears in Cherokee County, GA.

Will be glad to share any info with you I may find.

I can be reached on
