My gg grandfather Thomas Harrison Smith b Pickens or old Pendleton in 1826, might possibly have been in this family. he moved to Lumpkin/Cherokee Co Ga in 1846. The story goes that he traveled West at one point, but kept his family in Georgia. He named two children from Texas towns: Alice and Texas. Supposedly he went on to California and tried gold mining for a few months. He came back to Ga and named two other daughters Coloma and El Dorado from his travels there. Do you have any information that might pertain to my Thomas. He was well educated, could write extremely well judging by written documents by him. Thanks for any information.
