Carver Surname
Posted by: Howard Carver (ID *****6146) Date: February 03, 2003 at 22:12:50
  of 1159

My great-grandfather was Milton Carver. He was born in 1848 either in Walhalla or Westminster...not certain which because both are cited in different histories. His father was Willis Carver. After the Civil War, Milton and his mother, Harriet, (and other siblings) moved to White House, Tennessee. I believe his father, Willis, must have died sometime around the War Between the States...don't know for certain, but he didn't go to Tennessee with the family. One son, Allison Carver, died at the Battle of Fredricksburg, VA.

Willis' father was Richard Carver from Virginia....born Circa 1764. He relocated the family to South Carolina in the late 1790's around Pickens District. Had a brother named Joseph and one named Thomas as well that settled in SC.

Anyone related? I've done lots of reseach on the family...digging for more.
