Tempe,
Your railroad town history piqued my interest. I see Henry P. Hill on page 122b #15 of the 1880 census. My greatgrandfather William A. Arnold, 1855-1914, is on page 106a #59 in Central. My father had told me that William A. (nickname Bud) was a trestle forman for the Southern Railroad double tracking from Charlotte to Atlanta. About centered between Charlotte and Atlanta is Central, Pickens Co., SC. I have not tried to verify any of this information further. I will be most interested in any additional information you may uncover.
