Carr and Burkett Families

Hello - I am interested in researching my maternal grandmother's families, the Carr's, Burketts, Staley's and Smoke's/Smoak's. She was Martha Eliza Carr Council (1878-1963). Her father was Harmon Nicholas Carr (c. 1852-1931); his parents were J. E. Carr and Eliza Berket (or, more likely, Burkett). Her mother was Agnes Staley (c. 1858-1937); her parents were William Staley and Martha Smoak). This information was taken from their death certificates. They were both from the Lone Star area of Orangeburg County (now a part of Calhoun County).

Can anybody help me with these folks? Please e-mail me directly at Please replace the AT with @. Hope to save myself from phishing.

Thanks, and have a fine day. George Salley (from Orangeburg; now living in Savannah)
