Searching for information on my GGGrandfather, William Postell Zeigler. Born in SC 11/13/1836. A William P. 14 is listed on the 1850 Census in Orangeburg County SC. Father John W Zeigler, Wife Magdalina. On what little info found so far, believe was Johns second wife and not Williams mother. William moved to Pike County Alabama sometimes around 1857-1859. Married Mary Hurley in 1859. Her parents were Noah and Annie Duncan Hurley of Pike County. On 1860 Pike County Census William appears only as Postel Zeigler. William & Mary had 2 children including my ggrandmother Annie Civil Zeigler. She married William Thomas Daniel eventually settling in Palestine Texas. William T & Annie are buried in East Hill Cemetary in Palestine. William Postell served as Corporal in Co A, 39th Ala Inf and died at his home in Orangeburg SC of typhoid in 1863. Mary and a cousin are said to have traveled to a Confederate camp where they had heard William was suffering from TB. Obtained a small wagon and carried him to Orangeburg where he passed about a month later. Mary remarried in 1865 to a Jacob Irvin Kirksey also a Confederate veteran. Any info on this line of Zeiglers or related families, ancestors or descendents would be greatly appreciate.
