Town of Edisto, Orangeburg County 1700-1800

When "EDISTO" was mentioned, I previously thought it meant Edisto Island. Recently I found there was an Edisto town near the city of Orangeburg. My family owned land in that area. Can someone refer me to a history and map of Edisto area (not the island) and perhaps names of plantation owners? My names: MAXWELL, MILHOUS, RUMPH, POOSER, FISHBURN, MICKLE, SLEIGH
