We and a group of Brewton/Bruton researchers are conducting a DNA study, to try to determine how the five Bruton families in the colonial Carolinas were related, and to determine from where they came in Europe.
One of the early Brutons in our family was George Bruton, born in 1755-1760. He and his wife, Elizabeth Cannon, lived on the South Edisto River in old Orangeburgh and then Barnwell District. He had four sons, three of whom are known to have had families. We are seeking male descendants of George Bruton to take the DNA test with us.

If you have questions, comments, or suggestions to help us locate male descendants of George Bruton, please contact us. Thanks!
