These are my grandparents and I too looked all over for public records. This is what I finally found. Go to the Library of Congress and click on Newspapers. From the Anderson Intelligencer, May 9, 1900, p 4, Image 4:

"Lowndesville Personals":

"Miss Lama (sic)Clinkscales has been on a visit to her sister, Mrs. Pressley at Elberton. Yesterday Miss Clinkscales and Mr. Vernon (sic), drove over from Elberton and were married at the residence of Mr. T.D. Cooley, by Rev. J.A. Brown. The marriage was quite a surprise to all."

She always told us she was married on her sixteenth birthday but it turns out it was 2 days after. Pretty amusing. Must have been hot news then!
