Afrrican American Search for William G Craig

My gggrandfather,(an african american), William G Craig married Evelina (Evelina) Cherry of Oconee County SC. They had a total of 14 children. I've been told that he was a school teacher and a baptist minister. I've also been told that he died in 1918,but am unable to find any death records etc to confirm that. The SC digital death records does not list him. Are there any suggestions as to where I can find information on him as a school teacher, baptist minister and/or death in 1918. The census records show him living in Seneca and Tugaloo. Any information/advice would be greatly appreciated.
