I am a descendant of Elijah Land whose first wife was Eleanor Jolly, possibly a relative to your Mahala Jolly. In the 1850 census Elijah was married to Mary Licene Minton's mother,Elizabeth. They are buried at South Union Baptist Church .They were two of the founders of the church according to what I have read along with a Jolly family. In one of the census the Jolly family and the Land family were neighbors. They also attended Chauga Baptist Church, when Eleanor died .There was a William Jolly who was a member there also.I'm not sure if it was the grandfather of Eleanor or the Uncle of Eleanor.I have not researched the Jolly family that much.
I have read somewhere that Elizabeth Minton Land was a Head before her marriage.I have not been able to verify that or what Minton she was married to.
