Bynum Family - Chatuga Township, Oconee, SC

My ggrandmother was named Susan "Cody (or Codie)" Bynum Nicholson, b.1881c. She lived in Mountain Rest, SC, with her husband, Virgi Nicholson. I found an 1880 census from Chatuga Township, Oconee, SC listing an Andrew J. Bynum married to Sally with children James(male) and S. Toccoah (Female). At different times in her married life, Cody was referred to as "Cody", "Coda" and "Susan T" on various censuses. I am now wondering if Cody is a nickname for Toccoah. Has anyone every run across a name like this? The DOB within a year or two to what I have seen in cemetery records.
