A little history which might be helpful.

Oconee County, SC was not established until 1868 from Pickens County which was formed from Old Pendleton County in 1826. South Carolina did not require marriage licenses until 1911 and the relatively few marriage records before that time came from church records, family bibles, newspaper accounts, and legal conveyances.
