Summers in Edgefield/Newberry, SC

I am a Summers researcher. My Rev. Joseph Summers m. Eleanor Clary moved from MD to this area just before or after the Rev. War. He was a member of the Dunkard/Tunkard religious sect.

Among Rev. Joseph's children was Jesse Summers m. Sarah Coate(s). I am hoping to find baptismal/birth records for their children who would have been born likely between 1800-1820.

I am prepared to make a trip this area, if necessary, to find the records. However, I am wondering if anyone has experience researching records in this time period (Edgefield & Newberry) and will give me some pointers. For example, do records exist for this time period?

Thanks for any help.

Del Groves
