searching for Scotts

John Scott, bro William Thomas Scott, sis Isabella Scott and probably others ended up in Waterloo, Al in the early 1820s. John married Mary Elizabeth Carson b NC 1810. John shows on two census reports being born in NC and in the 1870 census born in SC. William and Isabella were born in NC. Family history with no backup is that the Scotts landed in Charleston about 1730 and migrated across SC to NC and then to TN and Waterloo. John was born in 1800. It is so hard to stumble on a record that will show who the parents of my ancestors were. If any of this resonates please send me a line. Thanks.
