HAMPTON James G Please help connect to Gen WADE HAMPTON
James G Hampton was born around 1836 in South Carolina. His daughter, Mary Hampton Clack, sent in a letter that was published in a Modesto CA newspaper in 1938 where it appeared as an editorial. She mentions James G was "from the House of Hampton, which boasts three generals in succession, General Wade Hampton, father, son and grandson. Wade I served in the Revolutionary War, Wade II in the War of 1812 and Wade III was made a general during the Civil War." I am hoping someone can help me connect James G Hampton to this family of generals. James G Hampton married Cataline Stout in Sevier Arkansas on 2 Mar 1856 where they moved to Tarrant County, Texas the following year. He joined the CSA (Griffen Inf Bat Co C 21st Reg)and he died in the Battle at Sabine Pass in 1863.
