You may be descendants of Isaac Cannon, one of the first settlers of Tuscaloosa Co., AL, born in SC. I believe he had a son named Wiley. Some of this family migrated to north Tuscaloosa Co., New Lexington area, close to the Fayette Co. line. Google search - "Isaac Cannon" Tuscaloosa County, AL early settler - that should pull up old newspaper articles and info about this family.
I am desc. from John Cannon & son Rev. Virginia Ellis Cannon, from Virginia, then Spartanburg, SC after they were granted lands in SC for service in Rev. War. My branch migrated from SC to Lamar Co., AL (other side of Fayette Co.) and my grandfather once said that the Fayette area Cannons were some distant kin. I do not know the connection, but try starting with Isaac Cannon in Tuscaloosa Co. and if you want to go back to SC, try Spartanburg and Greenville areas for many Cannons. Happy hunting!
