Thanks for the help but we have his obituary and marriage lic. we can't find him prior to 1900 census in Walker County, Georgia. He married Emma L. Roberts in 1896. She died in 1953 in Hamilton County, Tennessee. We have all the information on them from 1900 to present. We can't find Ed in any census prior to 1880 or later. His headstone had ED. Bowers and the date of birth states August 1865 but his death certificate states DOB as 1862 parent unknown except that they were born in North Carolina like Ed. This is still a mystery for us as we have been going through census, family names but we are no closer to the answer of his full name. I hope someone can help. Thanks in advance for any information that can provided in answering this mystery.
