Thomas Kerwin,
Berryman Hurt, aka "William Berryman" Hurt, was married to Sarah Jane True on February 17, 1841 in Fayette, Co., KY. Details of Sarah Jane True (1823-1844) are generally lacking. The origin of the Berryman name would probably lie a generation earlier with Joshua and Sarah Davis, William Berryman Hurt's father and mother. Unfortunately, I find no information about Sarah Davis, either. Keep me posted if you come across any leads. You may be correct, Sarah Davis' family names may hold the key. In all cases, the race = "W" as far as we know. The 1870 Census for Sangamon has him listed at Berry and his wife at that time is Elizabeth Berry (don't be confused by the last name of Berry!...a coincidence as far we we know). William Berryman moved from Owingsville KY to Sangamon Co, KY between 1860 and 1969 based on census records.
