I need help and do not know where to go next. I am looking for my great-great grandfather. According to the 1860 Census in Alabama, it states that "S B WRIGHT" was born in 1804 in "South Carolina". His wife was "MARY born in 1826 in Tennessee.
His first son, Samuel B Wright was "born about 1850 in Alabama". His second son (my great grandfather), John B Wright was born "abt 1853 in Alabama", and his daughter was born about 1857 in Alabama. It is hard to read her name, it appears that it could be Laura, Jenna or Lula. The 1860 census was taken in EASTERN DISTRICT, MARION, ALABAMA.
There are no family members left that might have information, at least that I am aware of. I ordered my great grandfather's death certificate and was told "they couldn't find it". I tried to order his birth certificate, but those records were "lost" (possibly fire etc). I live in California and I am not familiar with where someone might have lived during that time. I have searched for about 10 years and would be so grateful if someone could direct me as to what I should/could do next.
Many "thanks" in advance!
