Joseph Bishop ca 1695
Posted by: Terry Gladfelter (ID *****7898) Date: February 13, 2012 at 15:05:09

Good Evening.

I came across a Joseph Bishop born East Bradford Township, Chester County, PA. He was born ca1695 and died 1777-1781 West Caln Township, PA. He married Ann___? They were of the Quaker faith.

This couple had 4 sons - Joseph Jr., Thomas, George, Samuel.

Joseph Jr. married Amy Calhoun and moved to Lancaster County, PA. His oldest child Ephraim was born 1755.

Thomas, George, Samuel supposedly went to SC - Thomas in Union, Samuel in Laurens, George in Orangeburg.

It was said by the researcher, Thomas Bishop held to his Quaker faith and belonged to Cove Creek MH. He sold his SC property and went to Indiana.

Samuel died in Laurens County SC by 2 Nov 1805.

The foregoing PA information is true but I can find nothing to verify that Samuel, George and Thomas came to SC. There is a Thomas and Samuel listed on the Union County Land Grant map.

Where is Cove Creek Meeting House?

Ever so grateful, Terry
