Hello Linda,
Could it be that Elias other name is Edmund? I found a Will Transcript at the SC Dept of Archives and History (Online-Free) for Edmund Brown. He mentions his wife, Nancy and his daughter, Charlotte,Her last name was Graham, not Pate-she could have married twice. (Plus other sons and daughters)
