DEVORE versus DeVAUX
Regarding the postings of this DeVAUX family, at http://genforum.genealogy.com/vaux/messages/52.htmlhttp://genforum.genealogy.com/vaux/messages/52.html, I note that France is the point of origin. In my DEVORE line there are references, by other posters, that my oldest DEVORE ancestor, Matthew/Mathias DEVORE, dob of about 1756, came from France; and (apparently) ultimately wound up in Edgefield District of South Carolina.
In the above referenced postings to this family, I see a reference to one Jacob DeVAUX, who apparently relocated to South Carolina. So I am looking into ascertaining if there is any connection from this forum's DeVAUX ... and my DEVORE ... since the dates of both named ancestors are relatively close.
I also read references in the DeVAUX forum to some electronic books or reports that goes into further detail. If possible, and if anyone has this information, I would appreciate a copy so that I can hunt down any connection that there may be. The book by MANN, named within the forum, really sounds interesting in this possibility.
Thank you for letting me post to your forum.
Chuck
