This is a poem about the son of the first Mac Cormaic who was named Moga Chorbb. His son Con-Chorb was High King of Ireland and greatgrandfather to another High King of Ireland Cathaoir Mor mac Cormaic. Con Chorbb was killed not long after AD while Cathaoir Mor mac Cormaic is said to have died around 120 AD. Both had as their principle fort Dun Ailinne in Co. Kildare Ireland. Mac Moga Chorbb's son conceals renown well sheds he blood by his spears A stone over his grave tis a pity He who carried battle over Cliu Mail My noble chief he spoke not falsehood His success was certain in every danger As black as a raven was his brow As sharp was his spear as a razor As white was his skin as the lime Together we used to go upon reflections As high was his shield as a champion As long as his arm an oar The fork against the kings of Erin sons of chiefs He maintained his shield in every cause Countless wolves fed he with his spear At the heals of our man in every battle Seven battles fought he for his land He swept over them like any danger What battle of them admirable the deed In which he warned off not a hundred in every danger The three battles of Ath Finn Fail The battle of Ath an Scail of bloody field The battle of Fossud was the pursuence of a hero Was fought by the chief of Magh Main The battle of Glas Gle he broke to gain The man who had the deciding of battles The battle of Bernas our chief soldier fought his valour brought blood upon our spears He defended by his arms his land When he killed kings who were not weak To conquer Erin he raised a contest Alas the destruction has come on the son.
