Thomas was a nephew of Charles and Jonathan, sons of Jonathan. His father was Thomas.

Cottingham, Thomas.Admin. of, to Ansley & Jonathan Cottingham. July 29, 1769. Arch. vol. A11, page 34. Reg. of Wills, Liber L, folio 63.

Thomas Sr. died in Kent on the Delaware and Ansley with son Thomas Jr. migrated to South Carolina with her father-in-law Jonathan Cottingham and wife Lydia.
