Hi, my name is Charlotte and I am trying to find some information on my Smith ancestors from Marion Co., S.C. My gr-gr grandfather was Isaac or possibly Isaiah Smith, born abt. 1808 in Marion. His mother's name is Basheba (according to familysearch) MNU, I do not know his father's name. He was married to Elizabeth (MNU). Elizabeth was born abt. 1819 in Marion.Their marriage date is abt. 1838 in Marion, S.C. Their children were Caroline Smith,b.abt. 1842, Silas M. Smith (my gr-grandfather),b. abt. 1843, David Smith, b. abt. 1845, Allen Smith, b. abt. 1846 and Sarah Smith, b. abt. 1849, all in Marion. I also have a Elizabeth Smith, b. abt. 1840 in Marion but I do not believe she is one of their children.I don't know if she was a niece or some other relationbut she must be related to them somehow. She has 2 mothers listed, Elizabeth and a Susannah Smith who was supposely married to a James Edmond Smith from Berkeley,S.C. I don't know how they are connected to this family but she was listed under children at familysearch.org. My gr-grandfather (Silas) was, I understand, married to a Mary Elizabeth Redd before he married my gr-grandmother, Margaret Julia Gregory in Gadsden Co., Fl. I can't find this Redd family anywhere. I don't know if Silas married Mary Elizabeth in S.C. before coming to Fl. or what.I am trying to find out when he came to Gadsden Co., Fl. and possibly with whom. I would love to have some information on this line of Smiths and others they may have been related to from Marion Co. There just doesn't seem to be anything anywhere on their lives in Marion Co.
