I am researching the children and grandchildren of Cannon Gibbs( born 1805 NC...died 1857 SC). He is buried at Willow Creek Baptist Church on Old River Road...Florence, SC.
I have most of Cannon's children's information. I am working on grandchildren and related families hoping that some clues will lead me to Cannon Gibbs' parents or any siblings he may have had. I have a great deal of information on the Hymans, Cains, and their "kin".
Cannon Gibbs was in Marion County by 1824 and married the widow of John Eaton Hyman(b.abt1790 NC..d.1819SC). Her first name was Welthy, and her maiden name MIGHT have been O'Cain. Welthy may have been from Halifax or Martin County, NC..
Martha Washington "Mattie" Kirton Gasque(1854-1914) was a grandchild of Cannon Gibbs. Her mother was Henrietta Gibbs Kirton(1837-1905)one of the six children Cannon had with Welthy. Welthy also had children with her first husband John Eaton Hyman...
On the 1880 census for Marion County, SC..
Wesley and Martha Gasque, lived near the widow of Gideon Thomas Gibbs. Gideon Thomas was a son of Cannon Gibbs.
