Seeking (parents) and ancestry of M. HUGER ADAMS, b. abt. 1823 Marion County, SC

HUGER ADAMS is listed in one book as M. HUGER ADAMS.

In the 1850 US Census HUGER ADAMS, is a farmer, listed living in Marion County with his wife FRANCES JANE THOMAS, b. 1827 and the following children: ELLEN and MARY ADAMS. (The family previous to his on this page was also ADAMS, ORPAH, age 45, SHOCKLY age 26, ANN age 17 and WILLIAM age 12; all b. SC)

By 1860, he and family have removed to Wilcox County, AL. HUGER ADAMS is listed as a Baptist Preacher. Listed with him are:
FRANCES J., 33, ELLEN E. age 12, ELIAS D. age 10, the rest were born in Alabama, WILLIAM T., age 8, SHOCKLEY A. age 5,
AND SUSAN age 2.

FRANCES JANE (THOMAS) ADAMS appears to have died shortly after the 1860 census was taken for in 22 Oct 1861 in Marengo County, AL, he m. 2) MARY S. NETTLES. I do not believe if they have children any of them survived long.

By 1874 he married DORLISKA (uknown) and had 6 more children. In 1880 they were living in Bethel, Wilcox County, Alabama.
By 1900 DORLISKA ADAMS still living (he is not) and states that she had been married 26 years, children total six, four living.
Known children from this union are: MATHEW, b. Mar 1875; ALFRED Y. , b. abt. 1876; DUNCAN, age Jan 1878; HORACE H., b.
June 1881. DORLISKA ADAMS, widow, and her children were living in Cane Creek, Clarke County, Alabama.

All my research so far on this family can be found on the following website.

This is not my own family ancestry but belongs to a friend who I am helping. His maternal grandmother (JULIA BELLE (ADAMS) BURNETT) was HUGER ADAMS' granddaughter and her cousin had an ADAMS genealogy that was given to the family but is now lost. That genealogy was given by the son of SHOCKLEY A. ADAMS to JULIA BELLE's family. He was DR. JOHN CLAUSEL ADAMS, Admiral, US Navy. The genealogy took the family back to PRESIDENT JOHN ADAMS. Naturally we are hunting for a copy.
