Need data on John Gibson, b. l748, Liberty Dist., Marion Co. SC in the Marrs Bluff area, 15 miles E. of Florence, SC. Is he related to Samuel Gibson, founder of Port Gibson, MS? I am endeavoring to find the parents(and origin of parents) of Samuel Gibson who received Spanish Land Grants in Claiborne Co. MS where the present Port Gibson city now stands, based on his service as a Col. in the Seminole Wars with the Spanish. Samuel was the nephew of wealthy Trader, William Carney, who also received Spanish Land Grant in Claiborne Co. MS, land adjoining Samuel Gibson...does anyone out there know the relationship between John Gibson and Samuel Gibson as well as Samuel Gibson and Trader William Carney??? Any info. will be appreciated. June Carney Pollard, Franklin, TN - email: junesam@bellsouth.net -many thanks!!!
