Richard,

Thank you for your help! When I went to the Lexington Co. courthouse, I discovered all the old records I hoped to research were destroyed years ago when the court house burned.

I would like to understand the relationship (friendship or kinship?) between Col. John W. Lee and the Williams family
with whom he had land deals. I hope a descendant of the James Edward Lee you mentioned will see this message and contact me!
