can somone tell me if this joseph ligon, who witnessed the above halifax co, va deeds re samuel harris was the same joseph ligon, who also witnessed this mecklenburg co, va deed re william roberts?
also how did this joseph ligon trace back to col thomas ligon, wife, mary harris of henrico co, va?
how was the ligon family in laurens co, sc related to this joseph ligon and same ligon family?

john cargill, sr witnessed the 1750 lunenburg co, va deed wherein william harris/ judith hudson sold island/ plantation to samuel harris.
lunenburg co, va deeds also show that john cargill, sr continued to be very involved with samuel harris in this halifax co, va area.
lunenburg co, va deed book 5, page 440, 1759, samuel harris of halifax co, va to thomas dendy of lunenburg co, va for 2000 pds, net tobacco, 252 acres patent to samuel harris april 5, 1748 on the staunton river. signed: sam harris. witnesses: william harris; john cargill; daniel cargill.
in fact, here is also deed re william roberts of halifax co, va which connects him also with john cargill, sr and matthew marable.
lunenburg co, va deed book 6, page 393, 1761, william roberts of halifax co, va to john cargill of lunenburg for 5 pds, 227 acres in halifax, except part that was sold to david craddock and joseph roberts, but if roberts pays john cargill 58 pds, within a year re debt owed to matthew marable, this sale to be void. signed: william roberts, his mark. no witnesses.
again, this was the same john cargill, sr/ rachel tinsley whose sons were involved with my goode family and my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers in the same little river area of laurens co, sc 1770-1799.
in regard to the marables, in 1746 in lunenburg co, va, my william harris, sr/ frances goode had an agreement with william marable re the plantation "finneywood". matthew marable was the son of william marable.
also in regard to the ligon family, we are participating in the harris dna project and are in the harris group who trace back to captain thomas harris, whose daughter mary harris married col thomas ligon of henrico co,va, brother of our major william harris, who died 1678 henrico co, va.
if anyone there interested in our harris family or other of these can help, i would appreciate hearing from you.
