Thanks Freda,

Yes, I do have the book by John D Chism and have talked with John a few times. I have been to the Evans Library about 8 years ago and looked through the info they had. I also have the book, "A History of Monroe County Mississippi" that has the Chism and Howell Families in it. By the way, James and Temperance are my ggggrandparents. I also have the pension request by Tempy, but it does not have anything in there about her father's name, just as you stated, she was married at her father's house in Laurens County. In the Revolutionary war records that I have about John Howell, it does not mention anything about his family. I also have the Leonardo Andrea files for the Chism's, Howell's and Windham's(my mothers side of the family that were from Darlington County, SC and moved to Dale County, Alabama and then to Grenada County, MS. The Andrea files state that Tempy is the dauther of John Howell. With all this I still cannot be for sure that the John Howell that is in the records for the Revolution is our John Howell.

Thanks for your reply,
Bill
