hi i recently posted info re my hudson and harris families on the hudson forum. as indicated by the will of my peter hudson, sr who died 1752/ 1753 halifax co, va, james burton, sr was named as a legatee in the will of my peter hudson, sr and i know that james burton, sr's daughter agnes burton married james hudson, son of my peter hudson, sr, and 1/2 brother of my judith hudson harris. i am also going to post the info re the burton family on the burton forum. my harris and goode families moved to laurens co, sc. per info on line, this was james burton, sr's son thomas burton who also moved to laurens co, sc and who died there ca 1802. can someone confirm that this was the same thomas burton? i will also cite a laurens co, sc deed indicating that land which had belonged to thomas burton became the property of my charles harris, son of my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers and grandson of my william harris/ frances goode. lunenburg co, va deed book 5, page 327, 1758, james burton, sr of lunenburg co, va to james burton, jr of same for 20 pds, 200 acres bounded by james hudson, a new line; griffin; perry, part ofa 400 acre tract deeded to james burton, sr from the executors of peter hudson, sr, deceased. no witnesses. lunenburg co, va deed book 5, page 329, james burton, sr of lunenburg co, va to thomas burton, for the love he has for his son thomas burton, 200 acres on the buffalo creek, being part of a larger tract deeded to james burton, sr from the executors of peter hudson, sr, deceased, and being the tract where james burton, sr now lives; bounded by james hudson; richard hudson; anthony griffin; and james burton, jr. no witnesses. laurens co, sc deed book J, page 64, 1809, john clark, sheriff, to james holley and charles harris for $53, 150 acres former property of silvanus walker on raborns creek bordered on jonathan downs; lydall allen; robert creswell; sold by writ of fi fa at suit of exix and exor of thomas burton, deceased. witnesses: william irby; john mcharg. john garlington, c.c. also, per the info, this lydall allen of laurens co, sc was the son of charles allen, jr also of lunenburg co, va and also, this sylvanus walker above associated in the laurens co, sc deed with my charles harris was the same or related to this sylvanus walker also in lunenburg co, va. in fact, sylvanus walker, jr was one of the appraisers of my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers estate sale 1799/ 1800 laurens co, sc. here is a lunenburg co, va deed that also associates james burton, sr with charles allen and silvanus walker. lunenburg co, va deed book 6, page 107, 1760, silvanus walker, jr of lunenburg co, va and wife, sarah, to charles allen of same for 250 pds, 200 acres on the north side of the staunton river bounded by ornsby; goode. witnesses: william perry; james burton, jr; mary perry. also, lunenburg co, va deed book 6, page 121, 1760, james burton, sr of lunenburg co, va to sylvanus walker, jr of same for 100 pds, 200 acres on the north side of the staunton river bounded by ornsby; silvanus walker, sr; robert creswell; john boyd; thomas lewers; thomas word; george watts; littleberry sullivant; george madden; john newman; james cammack; samuel burton; henry box; abram laurens; robert burton. ex: robert creswell. per laurens co, sc deed book G, page 253, 1801, john mc laughlin, who was the administrator of my william harris, jr's estate in laurens co, sc, sold to robert creswell for $420, a negro man slave, formerly the property of my mrs frances (rodgers) harris, deceased. witnesses: james sills;
