I do not have my file with me pertaining to your Rosier. I have not had time yet to track Benj in census nor confirm James as his father. I can say you, a lady named lenora, & a paper at Camden ARchives (Kershaw Co, SC) (trip June 2009) all say james R is father of Benj who marr Christian. I copied that paper at archives. It starts with James R & comes down to Benj. Listed Benj kids & this Rosier's kids. It is only one pg. I can also say at archives there was some info on Jasper Davis. People are trying to find his father also & one person wrote family legend was Jasper's father was a Parish, whow may have went to GA. It did not say Parish Davis. It said Parish. Note the Parrish family prominent in Kershaw Co, SC. Jeremiah Parrish marr a Tiller. These were neighbors to some of my Davises. So, I do not know but think maybe it was a Parrish (surname). Edward is another Davis name common in my line. My Rosier (D.1786 Kershaw Co, SC) had son Edward. My Rosier's father was Edward also. I have seen the other Edward Davises in land records & census. I can say the Edward Davis who lived on Spears Creek & had wife Peggy is not mine. My Edward left SC & came to MS 1812. Anyway, if you have any leads, please let me know. Are you only finding your Davises in Kershaw Co?? I have been intently working on these DAvises in Kershaw Co & the more I find, the more confused I get! I am deeply interested in any Rosier Davis in SC. I find it interesting that the name Rosier Davis comes back up in Kershaw Co. with your Rosier. The name Rosier was a surname. There was a Rozier family on Little Lynches Creek, Kersh Co- there is even a Rozier Lane- I talked to locals- they said it was part of Rozier estate- for sale now. So I cannot pinpoint when that family would have been in the area for it to be a link to your Rosier Davis. The man died & now estate is for sale (300+ acres) so maybe they lived there in 1899 when your Rosier was born. I can say they were NOT there when my Rosier came along. Has anyone done DNA or considered it?? My father-in-law has-direct desc of Rosier (D. 1786) via his son Edward (marr Jane McCann D. 1820s Greene Co, MS). We did ours through Ancestry.com but aare having trouble converting ancestry results to DNA groups & ysearch.org. Please keep me in mind. Has anyone told you how the name Rosier came up?
