Please tell me more about your Mary Shuman. We have record from Ebenezer church on south side of Savannah Riv. across from Purrysburg, showing marriage of John Kittle/Kettle to Mary Newman/Shuman?on 7Nov1775. Seems the original was handwritten in German & translater or later transcriber was uncertain of surname at that point We cannot find background of either party - note in record said they were from SC as were the company with them. That church record does mention a Martin Shewman? also written Shuman. Do you know anything about those people? Could they be in your families relations?

John & Mary newman/shuman Kittle had dau.Nancy baptized in same church on 9th of Oct. 1777(b.13th of Feb,1777) I cannot find a Newman family whose Mary fits our facts. Our positively known John Armstrong Jr. and wife nee Nancy Kittle b. 1777 were thought to have come to Ga from SC, so the family feels the Church records above are those of our Nancy Kittle's family.
We know that a John Kittle lived later in Savannah Ga area where he died somewhere close to turn of century (don't have date at hand just now). Court appointed Jacob Kittle as administrator of his estate. We know of a Jacob Kittle who married toAmy Garnett(her family had been in SC & her stepfather deeded property to her at marriage). We also find various records on one or more Peter Kittle/Kettle s. We do not know how those Kittles are related, tho find some Peter entries in Ebenezer ch leading one to think he had children near Nancy's age.
The Shewmans seem to have left the area but there were some found farther down Ga coastal areas later. We know nothing of Mary Newman/shewman's life after Nancy's bapt. and do not know if that Savannah John Kittle left widow, or how whatever he owned was distributed by administrator.
Do you have a marriage date for your gr grandmother Mary Newman Crappse? Could she have been the widow of John Kittle?
Could you or anyone of Hampton/or other lower SC areas help us with these persons? Any information at all greatly appreciated. Hope to hear about your Mary Shuman Crappse in any case! Thank you for anything else on any of these that you see in your peripheral info! Ansearch, email:streborjcr3@aol.com
