Hello, I'm researching the McAlhany family and have some questions as I understand there are quite a few buried at Hopewell Cemetery. I have Joseph emigrating to America from Scotland...and his two sons...Robert and John. The info I have on John is very little...what I would like to do is share info that I have with a researcher in this GenForum if possible? Or by some other means. My grandmother was Julia Estelle McAlhany Dukes, her father was John Wesley Tiller McAlhany, a Confederate soldier, and so were five of his brothers, out of 13 children...their father was Benjamin Barnet McAlhany, 4-22-1809 to 2-11-1880. Eight of his 13 children are buried at the McAlhany Cemetery, Wire Road, Branchville, SC, and six sons served in the War Between the States. (Confederacy). Ernest McAlhany, my grandmother, Julia McAlhany's half brother, passed away a few years ago at abt. 100 yeaars old. If you would like to share, please give me an email, cjolly1@aol.com, Bamberg, SC. Life member of OGSGS, Orangeburg, SC Life member of Barnwell-Aiken Genealogy society. Cousin to Sue McAlahny Young...whom passed away not long ago. Thanks, Colleen N.
