I live in Texas but numerous years ago my husband had some jobs along the east coast so we drove there, not sure if we visited Greenville. John Nations's administration in which he mentions his children is on the web on the SC Archives web-site. I was unable to copy it but somewhere in all these papers I wrote the names of the children and their spouses down. There were several Steeles listed in the census when John was alive. I will check as soon as I can for it. If you find that your ancestor married a daughter of John and Cathron/Catherine Nations, maybe you will share what you find. Hannah Nations my ancestor, daughter of John , was married to William Ashmore and by l820 they were in Ms. , then to Al, and finally Wm. Ashmore died in Nacogdoches, Tx in the l840's.
Hopefully I can help you.
