Civil War letter/mystery

In a package of old letters my son has come across a letter from a civil war soldier named Benson. Knowing how much I would like to hear of that type of document for my ancestors, I thought I would try to find the family of Benson. I love solving puzzles/mysteries.
The letter was dated 10 June 1864. The author was writing his brother Edward and mentions his sister Jewel. The tone of the letter suggests that his father may have been in business in Greenville. He mentions meeting a fellow soldier named Clement who clerked for Cox & (T)ower. He also mentions Major Ashmore's leaving Greenville. Would appreciate any clues as to this company (Cox & Tower) or really would love to find a descendants of Benson. Happy to scan & e-mail the document if you are family.
