Ms. Tilton, thank you so much for the information regarding the location of Harper's and Rosemary. This makes sense that the towns were a part of Georgetown County and gives a better indication of where to look for Baby Josephines gravesite. I was successful in locating the passport for Dr. Joudan, also. That was an impressive passport photo wasn't it? Are you aware of any directories of businesses for Georgetown and surrounding areas? Still stumped on the JW Powell and JE Butler names. Was hoping to find a directory listing "momument or gravestone" businesses in the area. (would be a long shot!) In the 1900 census I did find our granddaddy living in a boarding house in St Denis and St Thomas Township. His occupation was "lumber yard". This occupation is the information that has been handed down. I was also successful in learning that the G & W Ry and ALC (written on Dr. Joudan's letterhead) was the Georgetown & Western Railroad and Atlantic Lumber Company. So all this makes sense. Evidently granddaddy worked for the ALC for several years before marrying. His marriage license 3-24-1902 lists him being from Georgetown SC so this lead me to look in the SC 1900 census. He evidently went to NC and brought his bride back to Georgetown area, where they lived until the baby died in 1904. Your assistance is much appreciated.
