Hamiltons of Georgetown, late mid/late 1700s

History tells us of the many migration of families from New England, mid Atlantic states, VA, etc into the south .

Where did the early HAMILTONs, that were in Georgetwon, come from??? There is notation of them in the Georgetown/Charleston area in the mid and late 1700s. But nothing of their prior history? The early 1800s scatters them West and Northwest.
Any assistance appreciated
