THOMAS WHELLAN born Georgetown

I am hoping that someone in Georgetown is researching African American families and will get in touch w/me.
THOMAS WHELLAN, black, is listed in the FBR as having been born in Georgetown, I would guess abt 1830-40.
His parents are listed as CLARA and TONY WHEELEN.
His brother is listed as YORK, and sisters are named JUNAH
and ELIZABETH.
The same family is listed in the Christ Church, SC 1870 census under the WHILDEN surname.
Perhaps there is some connection to my ggrandfather, WILLIAM LAWRENCE WEELDON, born in 1829 SC.
Can you be of any help?
Most sincerely,
carol wheeldin warren.
