Hewitt, Timmonsville, Florence Co., SC

My Great Grandfather, John Frank Morris, was born ca. 1870, perhaps in South Carolina (altho’ folks moved around a lot in those days). I am told his father’s name was John H. Morris, but cannot confirm; I have no idea who his mother was -- yet.)
Anyway, John Frank Morris, Senior, married Mary “Mamie” Ida Hewitt, born ca. 1875 in Timmonsville, Florence Co., SC, daughter of John nC. Hewitt and Myra Hill. John and Mamie had four children that I know of, including my grandmother Myra Ellen Morris, who was born in 1898 in Langley, Aiken County, SC, as well as her siblings John Frank Morris, Jr, Chester S. Morris, and Robert Morris. They all trekked west from SC to TX, where my grandparents married, and later to California.
I was wondering whether the Florence Co, SC connection might be a clue -- do you have any ideas?
All bits of info are welcome.
