Sandra, thank you so much! We are trying to determine when Joseph Whittle arrived in Edgefield. Not being a lawyer, can I assume that the first deal was done 1/2/1788 and therefore Joseph was in Edgefield? It's confusing because of the "swore by oath 9 Aug 1794" at the end.

Would you mind checking the deed book for any other Whittle land activity, including witnesses, prior to 1790? Also, may I forward this info to the Whittle Forum? There are quite a few looking for anything they can get on Burris Whittle.
