From Edgefield County, South Carolina Wills 1787-1836 by James E and Vivian Wooley:
P. 134 7 Sept 1792..I, PHILIP ZIMMERMAN, being sick and weak but perfect mind and memory. First I desire my just debts and funeral expenses be paid. I give unto AM APELONIA my beloved wife one black horse also 1/3 part of all my personal estate and 1/4 part of the produce of the plantation whereon I now live during her natural life. I give to my son HENRY 150 acres of land being whereon I now live also one other tract lying on the East joining, containing 35 acres. I give unot my son PATER five shilling sterling. I give to my daughter MARY five shilling sterling. I give to my daughter ELIZABETH five shilling sterling. I give my four children HENRY, PATER, MOLLY and ELIZABETH 100 acres of land ajoining land of JOHN PERRY to be equally divided between them also the remaing part of my personal property. I appoint my sons HENRY and PETER ZIMMERMAN executors. Wit: ABNER PERRIN, GEORGE PERRIN and GEORGE SULLEVANT..Signed PHILIP ZIMMERMAN..Proved in open Court by the oath of GEORGE PERRIN Jan. P. 166 20 June 1798..I, HENRY ZIMMERMAN, being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory. First I will that my just debts and funeral expenses (be Paid). I give to my beloved wife MARY one mare, side saddle and bridle, one feather bed and furniture, I also lend to her four negroes, Tom, Sarah, Annis and her child Ame, until my youngest son become the age of 21 years old, she to pay for maintenance and schooling of my children, I give to my sons SAMUEL and HENRY all my land I possess, I also give to my son SAMUEL one cow and calf. I give to my daughters MARY, NANCY, BETCY and SUSA 40 pounds sterling and one feather bed and furniture each. I also give my eldest daughter MARY one cow and calf when she comes the age of 18. I direct that the remaining par of my negroes be hired out by the year and the money for the portion I gave my daughters and the remainning part of my estate to be sold by then my son HENRY should come of age. Should any daughter die their share to be divided among the survivors, likewise with the sons. I appoint my beloved wife MARY executrix and JOHN SHIVELY and my son SAMUEL Executors.
