Linda,
Maybe Benjamin was married more than once. In the 1840 census of Henry Co., Ala. he has no wife or maybe they are separated, but there is a Thomas Brown living a few doors down and in the 1850 census there is Mary Lewis living with Thomas Brown. I can't make heads or tails on this so maybe two heads are better than one. I have found so many Benjamin Lewis's that it is just a puzzle. And also I haven't really searched that much on the Lewis side. Thanks for responding to my posting. Keep in touch.
Judy
