In the History of Edgefield SC (from the earliest settlements to 1897, John A. Chapman, A.M. (rep. from 1897, with update):

p. 114. Reference "Dark Corner" "A. Sharpton's" land and "the creek in that hilly country..."

Sharpton married a Don in 1830s. Do you know her (the latter).

Regret author here was "vague on dates" but because this is early in the book, RevWar times, this might help you date your family.

Happy to do other lookups in return for info on marriage to female w/ last name of Don.
