There is a record for a John Jayroe for an unrecorded Plat for Land Not Granted, 250 Acres on Brittains Neck, Little Pee Dee River Swamp, Georgetown District, Surveyed By John Russ 1793/10/11. I found this in State Archives, Columbia, SC. Also, I found a record for a John Jerow for an unrecorded Plat for Land Not Granted, 300 Acres in Craven County, Surveyed by John Horry 3/11/1735. Old Craven County later became Georgetown District which later included Horry,Marion, as well as Georgetown County. It's possible John Jayroe was father of the John Jaroe who ended up in Edgefield County. Apparently, there were several variant spellings for Jayroe. Hope this is helpful. Harold B. Jayroe
