Is the John McDaniel,Sr. mentioned in your posting the John McDaniel who was one of the Jacobite brothers who arrived in Talbot Co., MD 1747? There is a John McDaniel who was in Fairfield Co., SC late 1700's who I think had 2 wives, the first being Anne (Ogle?) and the second Elizabeth Thorpe. I believe this John was the father of Mary "Polly" McDaniel, b. ca. 1760 who m. James Tate, Sr. ca. 1782 possibly Granville Co., NC or York Co., SC. My suspicion about John's wife, Anne, being an Ogle is based on the fact that from this time on, the Ogle name figures prominently in Tate family history; "Ogle" was not common to the Tate family prior to this date. I think that John McDaniel and Anne probably had at least the following children: Jeremiah, Joseph, Mary, and possibly Hugh and a Wm. I have no idea where members of this family are buried, but I suspect Fairfield Co., SC, as they seem to disappear from records after 1798.
