Thank you Gwen. I have details on the will from Matthew and Sarah, I was hoping you'd have something I haven't found. The strange thing is there is no Matthew head of household in the 1830 censuses for SC. There is a Matthew in the 1810 and 1820 census, but nothing more after that. My relative is William S. Thornton, but he was not a minor in 1836. Our William S. Thornton was born in 1792 in Edgefield. He had a cousin named Matthew b 1794. So it's not unlikely that Matthew named his son William.

I wonder if you have any information about Martin and Jemima Sandler and this Thomas Butler? I've googled but cannot find anything relevant.
