I would look in Civil Court Minutes/Records for the County in question. Usually, guardianship papers were filed for orphans or children born out of wedlock. Bastardy Bonds were also put up for the child's support and often you find a woman in the local court declaring who the father of her child is. Church Records are not likely to have any of these records. Good Luck
